10 Mile Practice Race

I have signed up for a 10 mile race in March that I am using as my practice race for the Flying Pig. This race is called the 3rd Annual Run Around Egg Hill 10-miler and Relay Race. It is being held on March 26, 2006 at 2:00 PM in Spring Mills, PA (about 15 minutes away from State College). I am hoping that this race will let me sort of the kinks in my planning for the half marathon. Wish me luck!!

Training Week #3

This week, I was living in a nutritional wasteland. I could not get enough calories or the right food. I don't know where I went wrong, but I gave new meaning to the phrase "garbage in, garbage out." I did finish up strong with a good run on Friday though. Maybe I am a morning exerciser after all (I do my Friday runs in the morning before work)...

While Doug is out of town, I am headed to the grocery store to stock up so I stay out of nutritional limbo next week. Next week I have another jump in my mileage scheduled. Now that I have at least one run a week that is taking me more than 30 minutes to complete, I am going to have to start taking gatorade something similar along to refuel during the run. I am going to start experimenting next week with different drinks. I hate carrying stuff with me when I run, so we'll see how this goes.
